Compact Enacting Legislation:
Illinois' legislation enacting the Compact may be accessed at: www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp

Impact and Impact Assessment:
Currently, the State of Illinois is not performing an impact assessment as a component of water management separate from the requirements established by the Compact. However, the Lake Michigan water allocation rules and regulations may be accessed at: http://www.dnr.state.il.us/owr/resman/3730RULE.htm

While not an impact analysis, the rules and regulations contain the requirements to determine whether an applicant should receive an allocation. The purpose of the allocation program is to ensure that Illinois remains in compliance with the U.S. Supreme Court Decree while meeting the water supply needs of the northeast Illinois region.
